• Aloha Ohana,

Our wedding and reception will take place at Camp Olowalu, Maui on Saturday, October 10th, 2026.  We will be staying at Camp Olowalu from Friday, 10/9, to Monday, 10/12. You are invited to visit Camp Olowalu as a day guest or spend the night. Please book ASAP if you would like to stay at Camp Olowalu. Hotel accommodations are not as urgent and can wait. Everything is explained below. We will update this page as we get closer. Mahalo!

MOST IMPORTANT FOR NOW, the accommodations….

    OPTION #1 Camp Olowalu

If you are interested in the “glamping experience” of rustic Camp Olowalu please book ASAP!  There are 21 tentalows and if we book them all we have the property to ourselves.  The cancelation policy is seven days and the tentalows are around $200 per night (10% discount at check-in with Hawaii Driver’s License).  Most tentalows sleep two people and there are three that sleep four.

Camp Olowalu also offers tent camping for a lower price but you need to bring your own stuff or rent it on-island. You can rent gear and vehicles here. There is also car camping available; the cancelation policy for tent and car camping is 24 hours.

    Other Details About Camp Olowalu:

    • The nearest grocery stores are Safeway and Foodland in Lahaina (15 minutes north)
    • It is away from hotels and roads and is quiet but is just a short 15-minute drive from Lahaina Town.
    • Camp Olowalu is located on a calm family-friendly beach that is good for swimming and wading. Depending upon the tide, the shoreline is mostly sandy with small gravel-like rocks, with an offshore reef for snorkeling that is accessible by kayak or stand-up paddle.  If the swell is right, there are surfing options very close by.  Nearby lush Olowalu Valley provides miles of hiking on an ancient footpath route.
    • Camp Olowalu has a designated “group” kitchen which includes a shared commercial size refrigerator and freezer, sinks, gas stove and oven, dishwashers, and a water station.
    • There are seven shared restroom facilities throughout the property, as well as showers, grills, fire pits, pavilions, and a “convenience” area with charging stations and a water station.
    • We will have six rustic cabins that can be used for storage and additional charging of phones & devices (the tentalows do not have electricity but have interior solar lighting).
    • The Olowalu General Store and Leoda’s Bakery & Restaurant are a half mile away

OPTION #2 – HOTEL and CONDOS

Hotel rates tend to drop 30 – 60 days out especially during off-season October so it is best to wait on your hotel, unless you find a good deal now.  Most hotel and condos rates in West Maui (as of November 2025) during October 2026 are priced between $400 and $600 per night. These rates will decrease to $300 to $400 as we get closer. See below for other locations, condo options, and the Marriott Friends & Family Rate.

Lahaina Town (15 minutes north of Camp Olowalu)

The supermarkets and shopping closest to Camp Olowalu are located in Lahaina Town (aka home!) A few restaurants have reopened following the fire.  There are no hotels or condos in Lahaina Town at this time.

Kaanapali Beach (18 minutes north of Camp Olowalu)

Mile and a half long Kaanapali Beach has a dozen hotels and is just north of Lahaina.  It includes five Marriott hotels, a Hyatt, Outrigger Kaanapali Beach Hotel, two golf courses, multiple restaurants, and Whalers Village Shopping Center.   We are both Marriott employees so you may be able to receive a discount on your room within 30-60 days out.

To book using our discount, go to Marriott.com, enter MAUI for Location and Dates of Stay; enter the code MMF in the CORP PROMO CODE field. LET US KNOW if you do this; we need to email you a form before you check in.

Note: You must be a Marriott Bonvoy member to use this discount (free to sign-up)

Honokowai, Kahana, and Napili (25-minutes north of Camp Olowalu)

Honokowai, Kahana, and Naplili are condo and residential communities north of Lahaina and Kaanapali.  There are multiple beaches, restaurants, and Times Super Market. Check VRBO, airBNB, and Expedia for rates.  As of November 2025, rates were between $400 and $600 per night during October 2026.

Kapalua (35-minutes north of Camp Olowalu)

Kapalua is home to the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua (part of Marriott, see Friends & Family rates), Montage Kapalua Bay, and the Bay and Plantation Golf Courses.  There also golf villas and condos at the Outrigger Kapalua Villas and Kapalua Golf Villas.

Maalaea (15 minutes south of Camp Olowalu)

Maalaea is a small and quiet resort condominium community that includes a calm beach, a recreational harbor (fishing and snorkeling excursions) the Maui Harbor Shops, a few restaurants and the only aquarium on Maui.  There are convenience stores in Maalaea but the closest supermarket is Safeway in Kihei (15 minutes)

Kihei (30 minutes south of Camp Olowalu)

Kihei is a miles-long area with multiple white-sand beaches, restaurants, and shopping options, including lots of privately owned condominiums, often less expensive than West Maui (Kaanapali, Honokowai, Kahana).  Most condos are located off South or North Kihei Road (also known as Route 31).

Wailea (40-minutes south of Camp Olowalu)

This luxury resort community includes the Shops at Wailea, the Wailea Marriott, the Fairmont, the Four Seasons, and the Waldorf Grand Wailea.

Please stay tuned for more posts; we will update the website but for now we wanted to let everyone know the date, location and to book the tentalows as soon as possible! Also if you have any questions about Camp Olowalu (we stayed in a tentalow over Thanksgiving weekend) or anything else, you can call or text us, or email either of us: renatalloyd@gmail.com and volcanosurfer@yahoo.com. Thank you and we look forward to getting everyone together!
